I HAVE 2 ON MY 240 GAL REEF TANK AND ITS A LIFE SAVER. I WILL NOT WANT TO COME HOME TO A BUNCH OF DEAD FISH. THINGS ALWAYS HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE NOT AROUND IN THIS HOBBY. IF YOU HAVE A TANK AND DON’T HAVE 1 ITS LIKE PLAYING RULLET. SOONER OR LATER YOU WILL BE DEAD.

It is great! It performs just as described–when the power goes off, it comes on instantly and saves the lives of my fish!
Works great. The airstone broke right away and the tubing was too short so I had to buy a longer one but for the price I’m satisfied.
Why does it only run on battery power? When I plug into an outlet the power shuts off? When I unplug it from power it runs fine on the battery.
I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to run on AC current and turn on battery only if AC power goes off otherwise I’d be changing battery every couple of days??? What gives?
Is my unit defective? I know what I’m doing power wise all my other electric devices work fine. Device does not work once plugged in.
I am glad for the portable filtration option when moving my tank yet this product is only for temporary use. The batteries last 2 – 3 days of continuous use and for my Filter the outlet option does not work. So it was a very expensive move as my regular tank took a few days to set up.
A bit loud, but it’s a backup for a power outage. Moves a good amount of air for the money. I’d buy it again.
No this isn’t silent. When the power goes out, it has quiet a buzz to it, but when it’s buzzing, you know your fish tank is getting nicely aerated, and if the batteries are new, it can keep going for 12+ hours. Reassuring to have it hooked up to your tank if you’re away for a stormy weekend. I took away one star because of the noise, but it’s a great product.
Got this in case of emergencies , but luckily haven’t had to actually use it yet, but I will update this review after I do use it. The airline tubing that comes with is a fairly short length, but it fits nicely inside the case without batteries installed and if you need longer tubing like me, it’s super cheap to pick up from a LFS. I got this in case of power outages to I can still operate my sponge filters and also for taking to auctions in case I decide to pick up a larger fish or even if I feel like the smaller fish I purchase could use some extra air. I got the reconditioned version and it smelled funny when I first got it, but leaving it out on my porch opened up for a couple of days of sun and fresh air seems to have remedied that.
It works well but this product is not silent by any means.
Product arrived on time and packaged well. I got a refurbished model and the only thing off about it was that it smelled a bit like cigarette smoke when it arrived. A few days opened up and aired out outdoors and it’s fine now, but this may be a much bigger issue for someone else so I mention it here. Came with short length of airline and a blue airstone ball so it would have been good to go immediately had I not needed to air it out.
Haven’t had to use it yet, but I feel much more prepared for a power outage.
