This book is an easy-to-read, eye-opening guide for helping people manage conflict. It gives practical tips for both the professional and personal life. Based on enjoyable cases studies, the book assists the reader in finding suitable solutions that can be implemented in real life.
This book makes clear with specific examples how all conflict and all conflict resolution have common elements. An interpersonal dispute is not essentially different from a corporate fight or a struggle among nations. Each is acted out by individual humans, believing themselves right, the other wrong and often misunderstanding and miscalculating. In any conflict partners need to open a space for a different type of listening to occur. We must listen for the music beyond our inner understanding, to the music of mutual understanding. This brings to mind the reminder from the bible: \\”Whenever two or more are gathered, I am there.\\” One way to think about this is that listening with intent to understand is the foundation of `the health, wholeness, holiness’ in all relationships.
