I’m surprised that the vaunted Onion would put its label on this meretricious piece of tripe. PRESIDENT OF VICE portrays Joe Biden (and by insinuation every Irish Catholic man) as a drug-addicted lecher. Biden’s with-it lifestyle has one defect, namely, his subtle, too-hip-to-be-called-racist, condescension (think Wooster and Jeeves) toward his smarter associate Barack who masterminds the capture of bin Laden. Never mind that not everyone thinks killing a marquee terrorist and casting his body into the sea enacts the American Constitutional vision of due process let alone justice for terror’s victims. The choice of Joe Barrett to narrate is mystifying; he sounds as much like Joe Biden as Click the Tappet Brother sounds like JFK. The one saving grace of a satire whose principle virtue is so predictable a litany of cliches that one can savor the entire contents simply by reading the first sentence of each chapter, is the list of Biden’s Awards: Who wouldn’t treasure an award from La Quinta?
