Novelist Celia Walden told GB News’ Dan Wootton that Ms Markle had been branded “a figure of fun” in her hometown of California, Hollywood as residents turned their backs on the Sussexes. Ms Walden said Meghan made the “crucial misstep” of forgetting that the whole of the US loves the Queen, she added: “I thought maybe people would be protective of her out here, but not at all.” She continued: “Anyone who is deemed to have affronted the Queen, or behaved badly in that regard, is just not going to go down well.” Actress Rebel Wilson made a joke at the BAFTA’s about the Oprah interview and instead of being met with boos, there was unanimous laughter. Ms Walden said of the joke: "I think that will be most upsetting to her [Meghan] because this is the last thing they wanted.”

Princess Anne eclipses William as hardest working royal in first quarter, research finds
Princess Anne has completely eclipsed her nephew Prince William as the hardest working royal in the first quarter of this year after the Duke of Cambridge took home the same honour in 2021.
The Princess Royal has taken 117 official engagements in the first three months of this year, surpassing Prince William who had the busiest first three months last year, by more than 50 engagements.
This year, the Queen's daughter has taken only five fewer engagements than in the same period in the pre-Covid year of 2019.
The 71-year-old Royal has been on duty for 47 days in the first quarter.
Kate's 'strategic' royal career allows devoted mother to have 'space for parenting'
Kate Middleton's royal career has been "strategically" planned out with her husband Prince William in order to make "space" for parenting, a royal expert has said.
The Duchess of Cambridge has been constantly praised for keeping a fine balance between her royal duties and her children.
A royal source said that her approach has always been "strategic" and "methodical".
They added: "Everything is all part of a long-term plan that she and William have worked out together.
"Her royal career has been built in an unprecedented way, upon the need to have space for parenting."
Meghan to join Harry at Invictus Games
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will reportedly be followed by a Netflix documentary crew throughout the Games, which start next Saturday.
A source told the Mirror: "Meghan is excited to travel with Harry for the event, which is certainly close to his heart."
The Sussexes previously announced a Netflix show about the Games, titled Heart of Invictus.
Princess Ann to mark Platinum Jubilee with royal tour
The Princess Royal, accompanied by her husband Sir Tim Laurence, will arrive in Sydney for a working visit for a three-day whirlwind tour starting on Saturday and will then go onto visit Papua New Guinea from Monday, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
While in Australia, Princess Anne will attend the opening ceremony of the bicentennial Sydney Royal Easter Show, as well as visit the Rural Fire Service and Sea Heritage Foundation, along with other royal engagements.
Prince William admitted parenting ‘nightmare’ with Charlotte
Prince William once revealed he has difficulty making sure his daughter’s hairstyles are perfect.
Speaking to another father in Blackpool in 2019 the Duke of Cambridge advised: "Never try to do a ponytail."
He then exclaimed: "Nightmare!"
The Duchess of Cambridge then reportedly asked: "Have you tried to do a plait?
"It's the weaving, [it's] really hard."
To this, the future king replied: "I can do a ponytail, but that's about it as I don't have enough hair to practice on!"

Prince Andrew photo row erupts at lavish London art club
A black and white portrait of the Duke of York was reportedly included in a charity auction at Chelsea Arts Club. But a member of the club was so enraged by its inclusion that she tore it down from a wall and has yet to return it.
One member said: “It’s caused a dreadful ruckus.”
The image, taken by the celebrated photographer and club member John Stoddart in 2000, shows the Queen’s second son dressed in a black polo neck sweater looking directly at the camera.
Andrew’s portrait was included in the charity exhibition If I Ruled The World and had fetched £210 from an anonymous bidder, according to Daily Mail diary editor Richard Eden.
Young royals could face big changes if move goes ahead
Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Pince Louis are set for a big change this summer if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge move to Windsor.
The royal couple is reportedly looking to explore what life is like away from London.
But this would mean their three children are the first royal kids in hundreds of years to attend prep schools outside of the capital.
According to the Daily Mail, the Cambridges have been seen visiting £25k-a-year Lambrook, near Ascot, “multiple times” – with William chatting to one pupil about Latin classes.
Described as a “pretty bucolic” centre, the school has a golf course and a pig farm on site.

Meghan and Harry face ‘estrangement’ over UK return
Speaking about the absence, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams wrote on Twitter: “Harry and Meghan actually face the prospect of, bar her mother, estrangement from both their families which is not ideal for philanthropists!”
Mr Fitzwilliams also described Prince Harry’s decision not to attend his grandfather’s memorial as “extraordinary”.
He said: “You can understand Harry’s position after the terrifying experience with his mother,” but added: “Not attending the service of thanksgiving to Prince Philip was extraordinary.”
Queen suffering mobility issues
The Queen was keen to avoice any misunderstanding around the Royal Maundy church service.
As we just reported Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will represent the Queen at next week’s event.
It is understood the Queen, who has been experiencing mobility issues, was unable to commit to the event and, with the order of service being printed, she was keen for the arrangements to be confirmed.

Prince Harry risks alienating fans with Queen snub
Prince Harry may even upset royal fans in the US if he looked to snub his grandmother, the Queen, a royal expert has claimed
The question remains as to whether the Duke of Sussex will return to the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, despite him travelling to Hague for the invictus games later this month.
Royal author Ian Lloyd has claimed that if the Duke makes the trip to Europe, and does not stop off to visit his grandmother, royal fans will not look favourably on him.
He told Newsweek: "[Harry] needs to be aware that in America they quite like family values and so he would need to be aware that if he apparently snubs the queen by not visiting, I don’t think it would go down well in Britain or in America.”
Queen to mark anniversary of Duke’s death in private
The first anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death is expected to be marked privately by the Queen and the Royal Family.
The Queen is believed to be at Windsor Castle and it is understood she will mark the first anniversary of the death of her husband privately.
It comes after the recent service of thanksgiving for the Duke’s life, where the family, world leaders and the Dean of Windsor paid tribute to his abilities- as the duke would have wanted.
Dean of Windsor the Right Rev David Conner described Philip as a man of “passionate commitment” who devoted his “intellectual and physical energy” to a “host of down-to-earth enterprises”, but he could also be “abrupt” in a “robust conversation, forgetting just how intimidating he could be”.
Princess Charlene parents her children like Kate Middleton- but ‘every child is different’
Charlene, Princess of Monaco has two twin children – Jacques and Gabriella, both seven years old. She shares them with Prince Albert II of Monaco , whom she has been married to since 2011. Parenting expert Jo Austin, from Tayberry Tuition and Consultancy, spoke to Express.co.uk to outline Charlene's techniques with her children.
Jo stated she could show similarities to the parenting style of UK royals.
Jo said: "Charlene's parenting is quite similar to many other royals in the British Royal Family.
"They all have full time jobs and royal engagements which they must attend, meaning that they can spend prolonged amounts of time away from their children.
"The Queen had a variety of royal engagements to attend throughout her children's childhoods, and so often left them at home whilst she went on tours.
"Her parenting style could also be similar to that of Sophie Wessex and the Duchess of Cambridge, as they too were brought up out of the public eye, so therefore will be bringing their children up in a very different environment to how they were brought up," Jo claimed.
The expert also commented on Charlene’s style with her husband.
Jo said: "Reports have suggested that Princess Charlene and Prince Albert very much work together as a team, which any parent of twins will tell you is essential.
"Charlene is bringing her children up very much in the public eye, and therefore disciplining her children must be discrete.
"Bringing up twins in particular is difficult, as it's very easy to parent them in the same manner, but every child is different and an individual.
"Whereas some are happy to be more independent, others need more reassurance," the expert claimed.
Charlene and Albert, like most royal couples, face a lot of scrutiny regarding their marriage and parenting.
Sophie Wessex’s glowing skin could be because of ‘plant-based food’ and staying hydrated
What kind of diet does the royal follow to stay fit and healthy? Sophie follows a very healthy diet as a consequence of a near-tragic event in 2003 that badly impacted her pregnancy.
When pregnant with her first child, Lady Louise Windsor, the Countess began to haemorrhage.
At the time, Sophie was alone at her and Prince Edward's home at Bagshot Park and had to be airlifted to the nearby Frimley Park hospital.
Louise was born a month early weighing less than five pounds and went straight to intensive care.
Sophie lost nine pints of blood and spent more than a week in hospital recovering.
The experience reportedly made Sophie want to follow a healthier diet and lifestyle.
She is said to eat a balanced diet full of organic ingredients and, as a result, has maintained a slim and toned frame.
The Countess reportedly does not eat much bread, fried food, sugary puddings or pastries.
She also consumes very little alcohol and eats foods that are high in fibre and protein.
These include smoothies and porridge for breakfast and chicken, fish, salad and vegetables for lunch or dinner.
Fish, vegetables, and fruits make up the Mediterranean diet, which experts have claimed is "one of the healthiest diets" in the world.
Nutrition expert and founder of The Detox Kitchen, Lily Simpson claimed Sophie eats "a diet of plant-based food and lean protein".
‘Massive slap in the face’ TV host slams Harry’s security row as Duke heads to The Hague
Prince Harry was slammed by TV host Patrick Christys for refusing to attend Prince Philips’s memorial service at Westminister Abbey over his security demands.
Mr Chrisys discussed the Duke of Sussex’s choice to attend the Invictus Games in the Netherlands, despite two weeks ago refusing to come back to the UK for the royal event. Many royal experts have reacted to Prince Harry’s decision to exclude himself from Prince Philips’s memorial service at Westminister Abbey. Mr Christys expressed how angry the Duke of Sussex’s decisions made him, erupting and telling him to stay in The Hague.
The GB News host said: “Prince Harry would’ve been safer coming to Britain for his grandfather’s memorial service than going to Holland for the Invictus Games in a fortnight.
“That is according to the senior police officer who protected him and his mother.
Princess Anne’s two engagement rings avoid ‘traditional’ jewel – ‘meant something to her’
The Princess Royal married again in 1992, after falling in love with current husband Timothy Laurence. Jewellery experts at Steven Stone spoke to Express.co.uk about both Anne's incredible engagement rings she received.
Princess Anne received sapphire rings from both Mark Phillips and Timothy Laurence.
Both rings did not have a traditional diamond as the main stone.
Leading engagement ring specialist, Max Stone, outlined everything about these incredible gemstones to Express.co.uk .
He said: “It’s interesting that Princess Anne received sapphire engagement rings rather than traditional diamond rings.
"Blue sapphires are often linked to people who are respectful, loyal, hardworking, and honest, which only makes these rings even more special.
"This perhaps could have meant something to Princess Anne," claimed the expert.
He continued: “Both her rings are beautiful, however neither of the centre stones are overstated.

Jimmy Savile claimed to have unfettered access to Royal Family: ‘In palaces regularly’
Jimmy Savile's monstrous sexual abuse of hundreds of children and women over several decades came to light after his death in 2011.
Rumours had long lingered around the entertainer's off-screen activities during his career in the public eye. The disgraced DJ and philanthropist was the face of flagship BBC programmes such as 'Jim’ll Fix It' and 'Top of the Pops'.
Decades before he was ousted as one of Britain's most prolific paedophiles, Savile was revered for his charity work.
The presenter attracted powerful people to his good causes, including former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the Royal Family.
Savile had incredible access to the royals, appearing with them during numerous outings such as in 1983 when he, Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales opened the new spinal injuries centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
In a memo he penned for The Firm in 1989, the entertainer said he was "in the palaces on a regular basis".
Savile's claim was part of the handwritten five-page manual titled 'Guidelines for members of the Royal Family and their staffs'.
A new Netflix documentary, 'Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story', explains how he sent his PR guide to Charles.
On a page of the document titled 'personal observations', Savile claimed he was well-placed to comment on the Royal Family's public image due to his many visits to their royal residences.
He wrote: "Because I get into St James's Palace and Buckingham Palace on a regular basis, one thing is becoming quite obvious.

‘Bright as a button’ Princess Charlotte loves acting just like Meghan Markle
Charlotte is known to love music and to have been attending dance classes since she was a toddler. Now, a source has claimed the six-year-old is also very much into “arts and acting” and is particularly smart.
The source told Us Weekly: “Charlotte is sharp and bright as a button. She is top of her class at reading. She actually enjoys doing homework.”
The fourth in line to the throne is currently attending Thomas’s Battersea, a prestigious private school in south London where her brother is attending Year 4 classes.
Speaking about her hobbies, the source went on to claim Charlotte “loves acrobats and is very into the arts and acting”.
This means the little royal may share one major interest with her aunt Meghan Markle , who is a former actress and is known for her love for the theatre and cinema.
Speaking of Charlotte, the source added: “Whenever she gets a chance, she'll put on a performance!”
Princess Charlotte has shown to have an outgoing and cheeky personality during her rare public appearances.
In July 2019, as the Cambridges were gathered to attend a charity regatta, the little royal famously stuck out her tongue while looking at a member of the public – believed to be her doting grandfather, Michael Middleton.
In December, Prince William revealed during a one-off podcast episode he recorded for the Apple Fitness Plus series Time To Walk his two eldest children are very much into music – to the point he needs to step in and break Charlotte and George’s “massive fights” over what song to play in the morning.

Sofia of Sweden is a ‘proactive and empowering’ parent like Kate – ‘even haters fall off’
Princess Sofia has three children, Princess Alexander, five, Prince Gabriel, four and Prince Julian, one. Similarly, the Duchess of Cambridge has three children, Prince George , eight, Princess Charlotte , six and Prince Louis , three. But what is similar about their parenting styles?
Angela Karanja, a parenting teenagers expert from Raising Remarkable Teenagers spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk to explain.
She said: "I think both Sofia and Kate are very proactive parents who have embraced parenting as leadership. This can be seen by their desire to acquire meaningful information and parenting knowledge that propels them to be more effective parents in today's fast changing world.
"They both practise valuing the child's innate ability, independence and self-expression and believe children are capable no matter how young they are.
"I think both, having come from non-royal backgrounds, know the value of allowing children to choose their own unique paths.
Prince Philip’s former ‘spacious retirement home’ – inside Wood Farm on Sandringham estate
The Queen's Sandringham estate has a small cottage located in the corner that has a rich royal history. The secluded corner of the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk is called Wood Farm and it is known for being one of the most normal houses owned by the royals.
There are many historic and modern day links that stretch from the Queen’s uncle Prince John to the late Duke of Edinburgh .
It is reported Her Majesty has a special place in her heart for Wood Farm and treasures the private time she spent Prince Philip before his sad death in April 2021.
Sandringham House stands on a 20,000 estate in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The estate also has several other buildings on the grounds, including Prince William and Kate Middleton's countryside home of Anmer Hall, Park House and York Cottage.
But there is one home on the vast estate that is tucked away from public view and has links to many famous royals.
Wood Farm is a small cottage that was built around the same time as the main Sandringham House and was sold to and adapted for the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
