As NBA teams search for ways to quell Warriors guard Stephen Curry’s greatness, they’re becoming increasingly reliant on a zone defense synonymous with middle school and high school basketball. Two nights after Curry endured the worst-shooting game of his career as he struggled with the Raptors’ box-and-1, the Pacers decided Tuesday to see whether that defense could again be effective. Indiana head coach Nate Bjorkgren started seldom-used reserve Edmond Sumner for a simple purpose: blanket Curry like a cornerback on a wide receiver. After leading much of the game, the Warriors struggled to make the quick decisions the box-and-1 necessitates, collapsing in the fourth quarter for a 104-95 loss to the Pacers at Chase Center.
