A 4-year-old girl drowned Thanksgiving Day after being swept out to sea off Point Reyes National Seashore, according to the National Park Service. The incident happened about 4 p.m., when authorities received a 911 call saying the girl was swept into the ocean by a wave at McClures Beach, the Park Service reported. Several agencies responded, including the California Highway Patrol, Park Service, Marin County Sheriff’s Office and the Coast Guard. The girl was transported to Oakland Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her father was treated for hypothermia at Petaluma Regional Hospital after he went into the ocean to try to save her, authorities said. The names of the father and daughter have not been released.
