From Staff Reports Published 7:50 PM EDT May 26, 2019 Shreveport Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Dalzell in the Highland neighborhood early Sunday morning for a two-story house fire. The initial call was received by Shreveport Fire Communications at 7:15 a.m. Firefighters from Fire Station No. 5 arrived on scene at 7:20 a.m. Firefighters found heavy fire and smoke showing from both floors of a two story wood-framed home. Firefighters initially entered the home to fight the fire and fire command ordered the crews to withdraw and fight the fire defensively. Once the fire was under control, crews re-entered the home to conduct a primary search and extinguish hot spots. A home next door received minor fire damage due to the intense heat from the initial fire. There were three adults living in the home at the time of the fire. They escaped uninjured prior to the fire departments arrival. The situation was placed under control at 7:53 a.m. It took nine – fire units and 27 – firefighters to mitigate he situation. Two firefighters received minor injuries and they were treated on scene. The situation is under investigations by Shreveport Fire investigators. The home had no utilities and the occupants were using generators for power. The home had no working smoke detectors in it at the time of the fire.
