A fire that broke out at a three-story apartment complex in St. Paul early Friday morning has left one occupant injured and others displaced. St. Paul fire crews responded to the blaze on the 500 block of South Cleveland Avenue at about 1:15 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke funneling from the building’s third-floor windows and roof. The crews evacuated the building and put out the fire. The fire department said the blaze began in a single third-floor unit and spread through spaces between the ceiling and roof, affecting all units on the floor. One occupant was taken to the hospital for a non-life-threatening emergency, according to fire personnel. Residents were displaced from their units for the night. The Red Cross provided temporary living accommodations. Residents who lived in the other 15 units will be able to return once the building is cleaned up and power is restored. The fire department said the blaze is presumed to be accidental.
