On Saturday, Dec. 1, the Glen Ellyn Historical Society presented the three annual Gingerbread House Contest during the Candlelight Tour of Stacy’s Tavern Museum. Between 4 and 7 p.m., families and visitors braved the pouring rain and created Christmas crafts in the Glen Ellyn History Center, enjoyed the gingerbread houses on display and toured candlelit Stacy’s Museum. The Glen Ellyn Bank and Trust and the Glen Ellyn Public Library were modeled in gingerbread, candy, frosting and cookies. The bank was awarded the blue ribbon for “Best Depiction of a Glen Ellyn Business” and the Glen Ellyn Public Library won for “Best Family Depiction of a Glen Ellyn Building.” Other award winners were the O’Halloran family, the Verbiscer family, and the Oleksak family. Other entries included a doghouse, a tiny house, and several varieties of gingerbread houses. More than 60 people toured the museum and Executive Director Karen Hall announced the event a success.
