A 41-year-old man has been arrested in the holdup of a Birmingham bank. Roger Lee, of Birmingham, is charged with first-degree robbery. The holdup happened about 3 p.m. Thursday at Wells Fargo Bank on First Avenue North. Sgt. Johnny Williams said East Precinct officers arrived to find that the suspect entered the business and presented a note demanding money. He fled with bank with an undetermined amount of cash. Robbery investigators developed leads that led them to a home in the 200 block of 67th Place North where the suspect was possibly hiding. Officers, along with detectives and members of BPD’s SWAT team, went to the home and found multiple people inside. Lee was among those inside. He was taken into custody pending the formal warrant, which was issued Friday. He will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail. Three other people taken into custody were arrested on outstanding warrants. They were not believed to be involved in the bank robbery.
