Syracuse, N.Y. – Traffic is backed up on Interstate 81 in Syracuse by a crash, wet weather and thousands of fans trying to get to the SU-Louisville football game in the Carrier Dome. An accident closed the right lane of I-81 South near the South Salina Street Exit at 6:40 p. m., according to a state alert. For at least an hour prior to the accident traffic was moving slowly or at a standstill on the highway as fans made their way to the Carrier Dome for the 7 p.m. football game. SU offered discount tickets in an effort to pack the Dome for the team’s last home game. Syracuse (7-2, 4-2 ACC) is having one of its best season in recent history, achieving bowl eligibility for the first time in five years and a national ranking for the first time in 17. The Orange is coming off a 41-24 victory at Wake Forest on Saturday.
