READING — Police locked down a private preschool Friday afternoon following an overseas phone threat demanding cash. Deputy Police Chief David Clark said in a news release that the 5 Senses School at 1382 Main St. received a telephone call at about 3 p.m. demanding cash. The caller said if the money was not wired to a Jamaican address, people at the school would be harmed. Authorities immediately locked down the school and searched it for anything dangerous. Nothing was found in the interior or exterior building. Police said they are working in consultation with the FBI. After the search, police began releasing children to their parents and school officials said regular school hours will resume next week. Reading police traced the telephone call to a Jamaican number.
