Alex Ivanisevic Des Moines Register Published 8:00 PM EST Nov 9, 2018 The owner of the Field of Dreams passed away this week, according to a release from the company that maintains the movie site in northeast Iowa. Denise Miarecki Stillman died Wednesday from a rare form of liver cancer. She had purchased the property in 2011 and founded Go The Distance Baseball, the company that operates the property near Dyersville. ► More: Epic court battle over Field of Dreams may be done “Denise never wavered in her commitment to the goals of Go the Distance Baseball,” said Roman Weinberg, operations manager for Go The Distance Baseball. “Our management team has made significant progress in assuring her vision is carried on and becomes reality.” Go The Distance said in the release that despite losing its “visionary and motivated leader” in Stillman, the company remains committed to the Field of Dreams and the All-Star Ballpark Heaven, its youth baseball and softball complex.
