Omar Shrine, a local 501C3 charity that provides support to Shriners Hospitals for Children, will hold the 2018 Omar Shrine Festival of Trees next weekend. This Festival was created to promote funding to the Shriners’ Philanthropy. “The Festival of Trees is a winning situation for all concerned. Local businesses are able to advertise their goods by donation of a themed, fully decorated tree. Spectators can purchase tickets to win a tree and enjoy the traditional Christmas atmosphere with a visit to Santa for those that wish to do so. The Shriners’ philanthropy benefits with the net proceeds donation,” stated Ralph Calhoun II, CEO of the Omar Shrine. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better with food vendors, craft vendors and free parking for all. Hours will be Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Trees will be picked up by winners on Sunday, Nov. 18. Tickets will be available for purchase at the event.
