SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The lane that was closed after a crash near Exit 19 of Interstate 81 south has reopened, according to the New York State Department of Transportation. A crash closed the lane at approximately 6:40 p.m., the department of transportation said. The closure backed up traffic before the Syracuse-Louisville football game. For at least an hour prior to the accident traffic was moving slowly or at a standstill on the highway as fans made their way to the Carrier Dome for the 7 p.m. football game. SU offered discount tickets in an effort to pack the Dome for the team’s last home game. Syracuse (7-2, 4-2 ACC) is having one of its best season in recent history, achieving bowl eligibility for the first time in five years and a national ranking for the first time in 17. The Orange is coming off a 41-24 victory at Wake Forest on Saturday.
