A Boston University graduate student from China has been identified as the victim in a fatal bicycle crash Friday morning in Boston. Meng Jin, a 24-year-old from Shanghai, China was identified by the university as the victim in the crash, BU Today reports. Jin was living in Cambridge as he studied economics at Boston University. Jin was struck by a dump truck at the at the intersection of Museum Way and Monsignor O’Brien Highway around 8:12 a.m. Friday, State police said. The truck was driven by a 50-year-old man from Leicester. Jin was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, as a result of injuries sustained from the incident. State police said a preliminary investigation shows the truck was stopped at the intersection of Museum Way and O’Brien Highway, waiting to take a right turn onto Museum Way from O’Brien Highway. Jin was also stopped, on the right side of the truck, and waited to take the same turn. “When both the truck and bicyclist began to make their right turn, the bicyclist was struck by a tire of the truck,” State police said. The crash remains under investigation.
