A 41-year-old woman was injured early Saturday in Denton when she was struck by an intoxicated driver, police said. Police were called shortly before 2:30 a.m. to the intersection of East Hickory and Austin streets, where the woman was struck by a Ford F-150. The victim, who wasn’t identified, was attempting to cross East Hickory Street when she was hit by the truck, police said. She was taken to a hospital with a head injury. The injury isn’t expected to be life-threatening, police said. After the crash, officials determined the 26-year-old driver of the Ford was intoxicated. He was arrested and faces a charge of intoxication assault. Police didn’t identify the driver. The collision comes a few days after a 73-year-old man and his two dogs were hit and killed by a vehicle while walking in Denton.
