STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Villa Monte has closed its New Dorp location for good. Wednesday, Oct. 3, was officially the restaurant’s last day at its New Dorp spot, according to the owner, who would only be referred to as “Augie.” He told the Advance that the restaurant was sold after some businesses showed interest in purchasing it. He said a “similar type of business” will be opening within a couple of months. Villa Monte won second place in Best Pizza on Staten Island in 2016. There are three remaining Villa Monte locations on Staten Island — in Arden Heights, Tottenville and its flagship store, Gino’s Villa Monte in New Springville — that will remain open. They are located at 2811 Richmond Ave., New Springville; 240 Arden Ave., Arden Heights; and 7001 Amboy Rd., Tottenville. FOLLOW ANNALISE KNUDSON ON FACEBOOK AND TWITTER.
