Kevin Foote Lafayette Daily Advertiser Published 2:40 PM EST Nov 10, 2018 PREGAME Georgia State (2-7, 1-4) at UL (4-5, 2-3) This is only Georgia State’s second trip to Cajun Field with the Cajuns prevailing 34-31 in 2014. UL leads the all-time series 3-0, but all three have been competitive with UL winning road games 35-21 in Atlanta in 2013 and 23-21 in 2015. Georgia State’s slate this season has been questionable, but the Panthers did capture an eye-popping 46-14 road win over UL Monroe on Sept. 29. The Panthers’ offense is led by WR Penny Hart with 44 receptions for 602 yards and 2 TDs. Quarterback Dan Ellington has rushed for 471 yards and 5 TDs and is 144-of-238 for 1,813 yards with nine TDs and just two interceptions. Georgia State’s defense is allowed 239.2 rushing yards a game, as well as 37 points a game. So a new-school offensive shootout similar to UL’s 47-43 win over Arkansas State appears possible. UL running back Trey Ragas is now just a single 100-yard rushing shy of tying Tyrell Fenroy’s school record with six 100-yard rushing games in a season. Overall, it’s simple for the Cajuns. UL needs to win its final three games to clinch the West Division crown and earn a spot in the inaugural SUn Belt Conference Championship Game to be played at the home site of the highest seed.
