Sports Tennessee earned its first SEC win under head coach Jeremy Pruitt with a 30-24 victory at No. 21 Auburn on Saturday, snapping its 11-game losing streak against conference opponents. Quarterback Jarrett Guarantano threw for a career-best 328 yards and two touchdowns on 21 of 32 passing. The redshirt sophomore connected with running back Ty Chandler on a 42-yard pass to tie the game at 10 in the second quarter and Jauan Jennings in the third quarter on a 25-yard pass to give the Vols a 20-17 lead, their first of the game. Tennessee added another touchdown on the ensuing Auburn possession after defensive end Kyle Phillips sacked quarterback Jarrett Stidham, which resulted in an 8-yard fumble return by linebacker Darrell Taylor. The Vols forced Stidham to throw two interceptions during Saturday’s game, both taking place in the second quarter as they rallied back from an early 10-3 deficit. Tennessee entered Saturday’s game at Auburn as a 14.5-point underdog, according to Sportsline. The Vols’ last SEC win took place in a 63-37 victory over Missouri in 2016.
