The Golden Knights of the U.S. Army had to leap out of an airplane over thousands watching at NIU’s Huskie Stadium Saturday, but at least they didn’t have to hang on to the football. The game ball they were delivering was strapped on to one of the parachutists, keeping it secure as members of the team dropped toward the ground before NIU’s Homecoming game against the Ohio Bobcats. related advertisement The sky divers also carried a U.S. flag and flags representing the state of Illinois and NIU. The performance was arranged in honor of the Huskie ROTC Battalion, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary on campus. The Huskies edged out the Bobcats 24-21.
