By winning, Boston grabbed a 2-games-to-1 lead in a best-of-series that continues Tuesday night in the Bronx.
If the Yanks lose, they’re done.
If they win, it’s back to Boston for Game 5 on Thursday night.
“I believe in these guys 110 percent and I think we’ll respond great,” Voit said. “Obviously we’ve got our backs against the wall, but I know this team has a lot of fight and we’ve still got another chance. Obviously it’s a five-game series, so hopefully we come out swinging.”
Remembering what happened in the ALDS last October, right fielder Aaron Judge still is very confident.
“We got down 2-0 in Cleveland last year and fought out of that hole,” Judge said. “So it’s nothing new.”
But the pressure now is on the Yanks, who must beat a club that won a major league-best 108 this season twice in a row to play their way back into a 2017 ALCS rematch with the Houston Astros.

CC Sabathia, LHP
We’ll start with Sabathia because he’s the Yankees’ scheduled starter for their Game 4 elimination game. Sabathia has a history of being very good pitching the day after his team loses, and the Yankees’ are coming off an epic defeat. But coming up big in this spot will be a very difficult task for Sabathia, who is the oldest Yankee at 38. Besides facing a tremendous hitting Red Sox team that is oozing confidence after piling up 16 runs in Game 3, Sabathia could be rusty from not pitching in 11 days. His leash will be very short, but holding the Red Sox to one run over three or four innings would give his team a chance to win, and that’s all the Yankees are looking for at this point.

Aaron Judge, RF
The Yankees are at their best when Judge is at his best, and he’s been at his best in the playoffs with a .500 average, three homers and four RBI in four games. What Judge hasn’t done all season is have a multi-homer game. He had seven of them last season when he hit a rookie record 52 homers. Game 4 would be a great time for another.
