SPRINGFIELD – Four men were arrested in downtown Springfield Friday morning after they were found to be in possession of numerous bags of heroin, police said. Bryan Fernandez, 22, Isander Gonzalez-Perez, 24, Jason Owen, 34, and Hector Padilla, 49, were all taken into custody. Officials witnessed drug activity in the city’s downtown metro area and subsequently investigated. Owen is alleged to have dropped two bags of heroin right in front of officers at the corner of Spring and Pearl Streets, which led to his arrest. Fernandez and Gonzalez-Perez were arrested at the same intersection soon after, where police seized more bags of heroin. Padilla was arrested on nearby Frost Street, and more heroin was ultimately seized. Altogether police seized 25 bags of heroin. Members of the city’s narcotics unit and C-3 unit worked together in arresting the men, police said. Fernandez and Gonzalez-Perez are both charged with two counts of heroin distribution, possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the drug laws. Owen and Padilla face heroin possession charges. Fernandez and Gonzalez-Perez were previously arrested in roughly the same area on the same charges, police said.
