SPRINGFIELD – Three people were arrested Friday night after a search warrant executed at a house in Springfield’s Memorial Square neighborhood revealed at least 100 bags of heroin at the residence. Josue Figueroa, 25, Destiney Amaro, 27, and Wilberto Amaro, 25, were all taken into custody and are now facing charges following the raid that took place at 1584 Dwight Street at 6:20 p.m. Friday. Inside the house, police found 100 bags of heroin, 17 bags of marijuana and over $2,300 in cash. At the time of his arrest Figueroa was wearing a probation monitoring bracelet, police said. Figueroa is facing two counts of possession with intent to distribute, while Destiney Amaro faces one. Wilberto Amaro is charged with assault and battery on a police officer. Officers with the narcotics unit worked together with members of the city’s C-3 unit to make the arrests. The arrests came only hours after the same units worked together to arrest a number of people on similar charges in the city’s downtown area.
