Just before 12:30 a.m., Costa Mesa police and firefighters responded to the intersection of Victoria Street and Pacific Avenue regarding a single-vehicle traffic collision, police said. Authorities found a Toyota SUV, which appeared to be traveling westbound on Victoria Street when the collision occurred, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Further information about the driver was not immediately available. Victoria Street and Canyon Drive were closed and motorists were advised to use alternate routes until about 1:30 p.m. Saturday while Southern California Edison works in the area, police said.
