Construction on a 9,500-square-foot shopping center will begin next week across from Bass Pro in Denham Springs, between Hooters and Serita’s Grill & Cantina. The new Sac Au Lait Center will be anchored by Bonta Del Forno Ristorante, which will be Denham Spring’s first authentic Italian restaurant. The restaurant will also feature a full wine bar and a wine selection cellar. Nutritional cafe FitzBlend will also be located in the center, the furthest east the Lafayette-based franchise has ventured. They currently have locations in Youngsville, Maurice, Rayne and Baton Rouge, with another being built in Eunice. The center’s final tenant has yet to be decided. The center is jointly owned by Serita’s owner Isias Gomez, contractor David David Albrecht and Joe Moore, division director of Re/Max First. They closed on the land last month, says Moore who is aiming for the businesses to open by Easter of next year. The area is already home to several restaurants including Swamp Box Cafe, Crouching Dragon, Geisha, LongHorn Steakhouse, and most recently, Serita’s. Bass Pro has become a destination in itself, which is why, says Moore, they want to develop there. “(This area) is a proven commodity now,” says Moore. “People don’t just do there to shop. Afterwards, they go eat. The restaurants do so well there.” Under construction across the street from Bass Pro is a 31,000-foot trampoline and entertainment business Urban Air Adventure Park, which is expected to open early next year.
