FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Two men are facing charges after police say they were caught trespassing at a Fall River housing complex while one was armed with an illegal handgun. According to the Fall River Police Department, officers were called to the Father Diaferio Housing Complex on Johnson Street around 10 p.m. Tuesday in response to an “unwanted party.” When officers arrived on scene, they said they saw Keyante Lamark Mills, 20, walking with an unidentified male. Police said Mills was previously told not to trespass on Fall River Housing Authority property unless invited by a resident. As police approached the pair, both men made attempts to avoid contact with the officers by abruptly turning around and walking away, according to police. When the officers called out to Mills, they noticed the unidentified male, later identified as Peter Quinones, 21, clutch his waistband as if concealing a weapon, police said. As police moved closer to the two men, Quinones began to run away. The officers, who believed he was in possession of a weapon, followed Quinones and observed him throwing a black handgun down on the front steps of a building. Police said the officers eventually caught Quinones and took him into custody on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, trespassing, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest. Mills was also arrested and charged with trespassing and possession of more than an ounce of marijuana.
