That’s the nickname Detroit Lions reporters affectionately have for Wednesday, the day veteran safety Glover Quin stands in front of his locker and speaks with us, often for the full 45 minutes of media availability. We had an especially honest and enjoyable discussion this week. One of the topics was who would do a worse job: reporters going through combine drills or Lions players trying to write about it? I would expect a tie of horridness, in which everyone manages to lose. But one thing we discussed in seriousness was the role of media and why we seem to gravitate toward negative story lines. The Lions are 3-5 and it was pointed out to Quin that negative stories tend to emanate from bad teams. In Quin’s sixth season in Detroit, the Lions have had three winning seasons, three coaches and have lost their two wild-card playoffs games.
