Josephine Peterson Delaware News Journal Published 10:15 PM EST Nov 9, 2018 A Lewes woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison for embezzling about $150,000 from Beebe Healthcare, the Delaware Department of Justice announced Friday. The 49-year-old was the revenue director at the Lewes hospital, and from February 2017 to May 2017, she requested refund checks for fake people at fake addresses. Hope Abram deposited the fake refund checks into her own account after they returned. During a usual audit of receivables and payments, Beebe Healthcare caught a “number of irregularities” involving Abram, the health care company said in a release. She must pay $201,451 in restitution and has handed over three cars and three motorcycles bought with the illicit funds. Abram pleaded guilty to theft greater than $100,000 and was immediately sentenced to 25 years, the state DOJ said. Following prison, she will serve home confinement.
