The NCAA ruled Thursday Auburn center Austin Wiley ineligible for the rest of the season after an investigation into the involvement of former Auburn coach Chuck Person and illegal recruiting practices. Wiley, a former 5-star recruit, has been held out this season alongside forward Danjel Purifoy after Person was arrested in connection to an FBI investigation into the corruption of college basketball recruiting. Person has since been indicted on federal fraud, bribery and conspiracy charges to lead recruits to certain agents. According to the Associate Press, the NCAA said Auburn self-reported the violations in question which included recruiting practices, extra benefits and agent involvement. Auburn is allowed to appeal the NCAA’s decision and request reinstatement Wiley.
