Jennifer Pignolet Memphis Commercial Appeal Published 10:29 PM EDT Oct 13, 2018 A man charged with second degree murder died by suicide while in Shelby County Jail, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Officer. Lt. Anthony Buckner said the man, Santrez Taylor, 34, was taken to Regional One Hospital. Taylor was found unresponsive in his “single-man cell” around 3 p.m., according to a news release. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arriving. The medical examiner will determine an official cause of death. Taylor was charged with second degree murder and aggravated assault on Monday after officers responded to call of someone with a gun Sunday night at 3280 Carnes Ave. Memphis police said they located a 31-year-old woman dead on the scene. Police said Taylor hit the woman with a vehicle. The police department categorized the killing as a domestic violence incident in a tweet.
