Nguyen Sy Quang, head of the consultation office at the HCMC Police Department, confirmed Quy’s suspension when reached by the Daily on April 25 afternoon, after the prosecution in Binh Chanh District annulled criminal proceedings against Nguyen Van Tan, the owner of Xin Chao (hello) café. The Ministry of Public Security and the HCMC Police Department on April 25 morning met to determine responsibilities of police officers handling the case. In addition to Quy, who signed the decision filing charges against Tan, Nguyen Hoang Tuan from the district’s economic investigation police unit has also been suspended.
