RNC chair Michael Steele says some white GOPers ‘scared’ of him

While Michael Steele may not strike fear in the heart of Democrats, it turns out he does scare some of his own. The first African-American Republican National Committee Chairman said that he has “scared” some white members of the Grand Old Party. Responding to a remark by TV One’s Roland Martin that “white Republicans have been scared of black folks,” Steele said in an interview, “You’re absolutely right.” “I’ve been in the room, and they’re scared of me,” Steele said. “I’m like, ‘I’m on your side.’ ” Steele said the party needs to focus on “education and the economy” to reach more black voters.
